The Mafia. In Southern Italy, the Mafia is still at large and still deciding the order of the day. Despite the fact that the Mafia is a criminal organisation, and criminality should be illegal. It should be. Why is this problem so hard to solve? Because it is a very old problem and because so many people are involved. They say „but it's always been like this“. The mafia group Camorra created and furthers this tradition. However, some people do feel guilty about letting this happen and their views are not easily surpressed. What does the opposition do? VIVA! (Italian festival for Legality and Lust for Life) is hosting an anti-Mafia week, showing the Italians in Berlin the true soul of their country. This is positive news, because the vast majority of Italians do not want to be oppressed by a violent minority. In the South of Italy an increasing number of people want to prove that they are not scared of the Mafia, hoping to defend themselves and fight back. We want to support these people who are not letting themselves be intimidated, with the help of VIVA! Organised crime has been a problem for a very long time, knowing no boundries. That is exactly the reason why the anti-Mafia operation should know no boundries either. VIVA! provides many opportunities for these people to meet, informt hemselves and discuss. It's also an opportunity for them to party and enjoy each other's company, using products of other anti-mafia organisations. The event is not limited to Italians – we invite all people from all over the world to discuss and party with us. Wir laden nicht nur die Italiener, sondern Menschen aus aller Welt herzlich ein, mit uns zu diskutieren und zu feiern. A Lucanian buffet is available, as well as plenty of the Italian „lust for life“!
Buchpräsentation"Fragole e Uranio - Erdbeeren und Uran"
Both authors Pasquale Stigliani and Francesco Buccolo will be presenting their book "Fragole e Uranio - Strawberries and Uranium", which acts as protest of an Italian citizen of Lucan and is concerned with the introduction of a nuclear waste dump in Scanzano Jonico. Jörg Seisselberg, a former correspondent of the ARD in Rome, will be presenting. Prior to the presentation of the book there will be a short film concerned with the same issues. The book presentation will be followed by a Lucanian buffet!
